At the Urology Cancer Center we treat you like family

We bring a fight to your cancer that is far beyond the standard treatments seen at other centers.

We also focus on the whole person not just the cancer. We explain options and expectations of treatment and have deep discussions to determine the patient's expectations and goals of therapy and life in general.

Our entire team works as one for you to help lift the other burdens that are associated with cancers such as the high costs of cancer care that lead to worry and sleepless nights or the scare and anxiety that patients feel with prolonged and often unnecessary wait times for test results.

Dr. Luke is a Medical Oncologist who is Recognized for his Expertise in Prostate & Urologic Cancers

A Medical Oncologist is a cancer specialist who uses medicines to treat cancers. There are many types of medicines to treat cancer including chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, immune therapies & vaccines, mutation-directed therapies, radiopharmaceuticals, and more. Patients often confuse the various physician's roles when it comes to their cancer team.

Urologists are the surgeons who are experts at removing prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancers through surgery.

Radiation Oncologists are cancer specialists who use radiation (invisible energy much like what causes a sun burn but much more intense and directed at the cancer) to treat cancers.

Depending on your cancer situation you may need one of us or all three ( Medical Oncologist, Urologist, Radiation Oncologist) of us working on your case.

Not all Medical Oncologists manage cancer treatments the same. That's like giving two people the same cooking ingredients and expecting the same meal. At the Urology Cancer Center your treatments will be tailored to you and your cancer. Often times today we are even able to use the genetic information from your tumor to choose your specific treatment.

You will be extensively educated at a level you will understand regarding your cancer and your treatment options. Once you and Dr. Luke are agreeable to your treatment plan you will be educated on: what the treatment will entail, how it works against the cancer, how long it will take, how often you will receive it, how we will monitor for effectiveness and what to expect for potential side effects.

Each treatment will be managed by Dr. Luke and his team with the skill they have developed over years of experience with thousands of patients with Prostate & Urologic cancers. This allows them to minimize side effects and improve effectiveness of the treatments against your cancer.  It is also critical that your cancer treatment not be mismanaged which can shorten their effectiveness thus potentially shortening life.

Dr. Luke makes 3 promises to each patient for any treatment that he starts. He will only continue a treatment if:
1) The treatment is working. Even if a patient is on a trial and the treatment stops working the treatment will be stopped immediately.
2) The treatment is not hurting the patient. If a patient is experiencing mild side effects they will likely manage and continue treatment but if the patient experiences significant side effects the treatment will be modified or stopped.
3) The treatment cannot break their bank. Dr. Luke's team works tirelessly to get free drug or work with very manageable payments. Patients on clinical trials typically pay nothing for their treatments.

Dr. Luke will work closely and communicate openly with the other members of your cancer team including your Urologist and Radiation Oncologists. With patients from more than 40 states, Dr. Luke commonly works with physicians from other states to provide seamless care when you return home.

UCC Cancer Care

Your Oncology Nurse Team

Once the treatment plan is in place and you are ready to receive your treatment, our very compassionate and skilled Oncology Nurses will work closely with you and your caregiver(s) during the administration of the medicines. We have a very comfortable treatment area and private treatment areas if desired for you and your friends and family that come with you for support.

Many newer cancer treatments are pills. Most oral cancer treatments can be filled in our Cancer Specialty Pharmacy in the same office while you wait. This is not only convenient for our patients, it also allows us complete control of the drug dosing and dosing changes, drug-drug interactions, and the ability to work with your financial situation to ensure you will get your treatment on time.
