I decided to go into the healthcare field after being hospitalized as a young adult. I had a wonderful team of health care providers that took care of me and eased my pain and anxiety during my time of uncertainty. After that, I realized that is what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to be the one who was there for people during their tough times. Their times of uncertainty. I began my career as a nurse on a Progressive Care Unit, taking care of critically ill patients. It happened to be the very floor that I was on as a patient just a few years before. I loved being with patients at the bedside, however I quickly learned that I wanted something more. I struggled with the fact that I would build strong relationships with patients, but they would last only a few shifts. I wanted to continue my career working where I could follow patients on their healthcare journey and cheer with them during their triumphs and hold their hand through their struggles. I decided to pursue my Master’s Degree and become a Nurse Practitioner. As soon as I started working at UCC, I realized that working in Oncology is where I was meant to be. There is no better place to cheer patients on during their triumphs and hold their hand during their struggles. Winston Churchill said “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” I will continue to give my patient’s knowledge to make educated decisions, honesty about their health and progress, and most importantly, compassion during their journey!
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Clarkson College in 2013. I worked for five years at a local hospital on a Progressive Care Unit. I went through a Family Nurse Practitioner program at Clarkson College and graduated with a Master’s of Science in Nursing in 2017. I worked for one year at a quick care clinic before changing my path from Family Practice to Oncology. I have been at UCC since 2019.
I am married and have two children. I spend a majority of my free time by playing with my kids, reading or enjoying the outdoors. I also enjoy traveling and going to MLB games!
