XCancer: EXPANDING CANCER RESEARCH ACROSS THE U.S.
Community cancer centers are the backbone of the U.S. cancer care system. They care for 80% of the cancer patients in the U.S. They also have less bureaucracy associated with them which allows them to more rapidly open clinical research trials. What takes just weeks at a Community Cancer Center can take an Academic Center 9-18 months to open the same trial and accrue the first patient. Not all patients can wait that long for a potentially life-saving treatment.
Most Community Cancer Centers historically have had little to no clinical trial research participation. On average they only accrue 2% of their patients on clinical trials. They are the sleeping giant!
XCancer, founded by Dr. Nordquist and his team in 2018 has rapidly grown into a network of over 40 Community Cancer Centers in 2020. XCancer is expanding clinical research trials in the Community Cancer Centers with the purpose of bringing more treatment options to more cancer patients across the U.S. XCancer is the one-point-of-contact for pharmaceutical sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs) that develop clinical trials and identify selected sites to conduct the trials. XCancer serves as a backbone for the Community Cancer Centers so they can quickly and with high quality run the most competitive clinical trials available for all cancer types.
